When the weather starts getting warmer, we know it’s that time of year when the silly season begins and everything seems to be happening. Summer is on the horizon and, after a year that has felt more like a decade, the time is ripe to find something to celebrate.

If you walk around Parramatta on these warm Summery evenings, you’ll find it glowing. Launching in time to celebrate Diwali, the Indian festival of light, you’ll see your City lit up in an array of different colours at Parramatta Square, Centenary Square, and the River foreshore (between the Lennox Bridge and Ferry terminal).

The lighting installations will be bringing the festive cheer all the way through to Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Australia Day and the Sydney Festival at the end of January.

If you’re heading to Parramatta Square to try out the fabulous new eateries, don’t miss the Storybox installation as well as the beautiful hanging light sculptures.

At Centenary Square the Cathedral and trees light up when the sun goes down and along the River Foreshore, you’ll find an array of colourful lighting effects. Perfect for a relaxing romantic stroll before or after you’ve enjoyed a show at Riverside Theatres, a game at Bankwest Stadium, or a delicious meal at Eat Street

If you’re keen to get the Christmas spirit going, visit Parramatta’s 10m Christmas Tree on the St John’s Cathedral lawn. Keep your eye out for Christmas garlands, bows, and wreaths decorating buildings across the Parramatta Council area.
